Sligo Rovers face Glentoran or Vorskla Poltava in Europa League 3rd Round

Sligo Rovers will face either Northern Ireland's Glentoran or Ukranian outfit Vorskla Poltava in the 3rd Round of the Europa League.

As it stands, Poltava looks to be our likely opponents as they currently hold a 2-0 aggregate lead over Glentoran. Our first leg will be away on the 28th July and the return leg will be in The Showgrounds on the 4th August.

Paul Cook spoke about the likelyhood of playing Portava: "It looks like we'll be going to Ukraine and that is a very difficult draw. They seem to be a very strong team with excellent players and play in an excellent league. All do is our best and I know our players will look forward to it.

I’m happy to be away from home first. This is a great experience for the players and we will certainly give it our all.

I’m going to try to get to their game next week and do our homework and give ourselves the best opportunity."

Club Chairman Michael Toolan also spoke about the draw: "It is not the ideal draw in terms of cost but to be in the competition at this stage is fantastic for Sligo Rovers and I know Paul and the players will be excited by the opportunity.

It is a wonderful time for the club and they have made great strides on-the-pitch and this is another fantastic adventure for us."
